Brown County is a zoned county, with the only restriction applying to commercial wind energy projects. Please see the zoning letter below for more details. The Cities of Hiawatha, Horton, and Sabetha may have their own restrictions. If you plan to work within a three-mile radius of these cities, we recommend that you contact them. Some of the 3rd-class cities and townships may also have policies. If you have additional questions, please contact the Brown County Commission or the Clerk's office.

Boats are licensed in the office of the County Clerk. The cost is $42.50 for a three-year period. A bill of sale or statement of fact is required, as boats are not titled in Kansas.
